Growing up a literal princess as the younger of two siblings in the fortified city of Vylmark, Linnea Silver preferred to study the Frostwardens and their Behemoth-hunting techniques, training with weapons and heavy armour while leaving her older brother Brynjar to study for his presumed role as the future king of the Skaldish people. But when a sacred Skaldish ritual chose her to take on the mantle of queen, Linnea had no choice but to grow into that responsibility—an effort that's only just beginning as she enters her second full year of leadership.

The mantle of leadership Linnea carries means that not only does she wear the crown of Skaldeskar, she still commands the realm's defenders as Frostwarden-General. Linnea has chosen to model herself on Bryn's example in official matters, trying to be the person she believes she must be rather than the Slayer and warrior she feels she is in her bones. In private, she also betrays a clever sense of humour. The queen is not averse to the occasional prank, pun, or practical joke. But Linnea's greatest strength is her keen mind—she effortlessly understands complex states and adapts to them, allowing her to direct the Frostwardens in the face of ever-changing circumstances.
